Tuesday Morning

I remember stormy weather

The way the sky looks when it's cold

And you were with me

Content with walking

So unaware of the world

Please don't drive me home tonight

Because I dont wanna feel alone

Please don't drive me home tonight

Because I don't wanna go

Tuesday morning

In the dark

I was finding out

Who you are

I took your picture

While you were sleeping

And then I paced around the room

If I had known then

That these things happen

Would they have happened with you?

Please don't drive me home tonight

Because I dont wanna feel alone

Please don't drive me home tonight

Because I don't wanna go

Tuesday morning

In the dark

I was finding out

Who you are

And if you turned around to see me and I was gone

You should have looked outside your window

Because the sun was coming up

The sun was coming up

Please don't drive me home tonight

Because I dont wanna feel alone

Please don't drive me home tonight

Because I don't wanna go

Tuesday morning

In the dark

I was finding out

Who we are

who we are

The Faint Scent of Tuesday Morning : Courtney T. Smith

Hues looked off cast as her figure mingled in the crowd. Busy streets, people rushing to get where ever they were meant to go. She had no direction, only walking like she often found herself doing lately. Golden strands found themselves let lose, an unsual action that was rarely done. Arms were crisscrossed tight against chest. Face was directed downward watching each step. Back and forth, back and forth, walking without thinking about it. But then again, when was there a time when she thought anymore? Figure avoided a couple as she was spilt between their hand holding. Head turned around to see their hands find each other again, moving closer to one another. The simple reminders of the things she couldn't have. Sigh rolled off her lips as legs brought her across the street. Traffic put to a stop with a red light. The sky gave a small roar before she was forced to advert her eyes upward.

Clouds rolled back, an angry feeling emitting from the storm that pushed its way forward. It felt much like how she was inside. The storm swirling dangerously within, daring to spill contents of her heart until she felt no more. Arms uncrossed as fingertips brushed against the side of a brick building while she walked. Goosebumps formed on her upper arms, uncovered by sleeves or a jacket of any kind. Bodies scattered frantic to find shelter as the rain started to fall. That continous rhythm beat over and over, she didn't mind it it in the least. Droplets rolled off her face, drenching slowly into her hair. Perhaps this is what she needed. A rainshower to rinse all those thoughts away. To rinse him.. away.

Expression gave a look of undecision as clothes soon clung to her limbs. The rain continued onward, having no mind of those busy people needing to go about their day. Rain, much like love. Not caring what was going on before it shows up and not concerned with the aftermath. Heart hung heavy as hand moved to sift through wet strands, head tilting backward. This weather that washed angrily over everything seemed not to detour her from what she meant to do. But she hadn't any aim on this path to begin with, so perhaps thats why she found the determination to continue onward. Something told her inside that if it wasn't today, then it never would be. She had simply waited too long.

Back moved to rest against wall before sliding down it, sitting upon the sidewalk. Alone like always, she was in this infinite feeling. Hands moved to face as knees were brought to chest. Everything in her world seemed to stop. He wasn't coming back. Her mind read her thoughts of logic, of everything she couldn't understand. And then she understood. It was all a game of pretend. Salt droplets found their way from eyes, mingling with those from the shower above. If she could give up anything to have him, she would have. But it was too late now. She had to let him go. He would consume every waking moment if she didn't let go today. Sobs choked through her, causing body to shake. Shivering in the rain, crying from release. He wasn't coming. She knew it now. Everything had just been one big charade that she could never make out. But even those blinded by love eventually see.

Sitting there still, she allowed the whole world to pass her by now. Just one of a handful of others who were going through the same thing she was. The despair of love, the truth of the unknown. Crying fully, hands moved to cover completely as she collasped inward. Lightening shimmered now, luminating her figure that sat unmotionable in the soon approaching dark of the night. She had to rinse him away. The process had already begun.

But it was at that moment, the last thought of him before letting go that she felt her figure rise. Hues fluttering open quickly as hands fell away. His hands pushing her up against the wall, his lips kissing those tears away. His own drenched form against her now. Breath left her as she fell into him, having no longer the strength to stand on her own. Always on cue, always at the very last moment he intervened.

Holding her up now arm held up against waist, walking with her. Tired head slipped against his shoulder able to just fade away at that moment. No words were exchanged, there was nothing to say really. They took comfort in each other's figure as they walked. All the games had been neither won nor lost, they were just ended. He couldn't go on much longer without her, she was already ready to just let go. His direction lead them to a run down hotel room, paying the fees quickly.

She couldn't make out the things around her, lost in the vastness of love. Drowning as he struggled to hold onto her quickly sinking figure. Finding them alone in the room now his figure laid her against the bed. Tears increased as she lay there unmoving. His figure moving over hers, regretting his timing. Lips moved to her cheeks, kissing those wreched tears away.

" I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry.. "

His voice whispered through the uncomfortable blanket of silence that washed over them both. Waking under his touch fingers soon peeled soaked clothing away as passion had begun. Short caught breaths as her kisses left him with a desire he had never felt with such a degree before. His fingers moved to play with wet gold tresses as they laid there. Her body folded inward towards his now, afraid to let go on this stormy Monday night. Finding each other in Tuesdays morning darkness, the heat of passion hitting over the scale.

Sleep overcame them as chest rose and fell together. His arms locked protectively around her finally something he had been waiting so long to do. Minutes passed this way, the sound of breathing a melody in its own right. Watching him now, she had never really gotten passed unconsciousness, lips leaned to forehead. Removing herself she took a picture, polaroid to remember a night that would stand still forever.

She couldn't allow him to take her home. It would be a bad memory of something she wanted to remember forever. Another snapshot of his sleeping form left in where her once warm form was next to him. Getting dressed she watched him. Another kiss upon his lips before stepping out into the rain, the aroma lingering upon her flushed figure. Walking back towrads home, a place where she could remember this event forever, until it happened again.

Sun rays flickered through the glass, indicating sunrise and the storm that had passed. Eyes opened turning to a figure that wasn't there. Only a picture of himself sleeping, a soft reminder of a night he wouldn't be able to forget. Fingering the picture slightly he let it rest upon the bed before turning to the window. She wasn't there, but they would met again. He knew it inwardly. Something inside again told him this wasn't the end. Just something to quench the emotions that wouldnt fade.
